Yr5 & 6 Cricket Competition

Our Year 5/6 Girls' Cricket Team attended a tournament at Nailsea Cricket Club. They played four matches (Blagdon, Golden Valley, Kingshill and St Annes) and won all four, resulting in them being crowned North Somerset Champions!

Shane German, who organised the event and umpired all our matches, sent this email which sums up the girls' attitude and progress across the day. "Congratulations on your team's success yesterday! They should all be extremely proud of themselves. They improved enormously across the day and saved their best team performance until the final. They were also a genuine pleasure to work with (polite and enthusiastic) and really did play as a team."

Any girls interested in having a go are encouraged to go to girl's coaching sessions at Weston-Super-Mare Cricket Club on Wednesdays from 5pm to 6:30pm. Boys' sessions are also available! PLease contact Rhys Crocker on 01934 515977 or 0770 680 8911 or see the poster in Mrs Sweet's classroom window.

Tennis & Tri-Golf

10 children from year 3 attended a Tri golf tournament on Wednesday at Bristol Grammar sports ground. The children had a fantastic time using their newly acquired tri-golfing skills. Four year 4  children also attended the Tennis tournament, which was held at the same venue. The Tennis children have been practising their tennis skills all term and played extremely well coming second in their group. The behaviour and attitude of all the children were faultless. Well done Castle Batch's Tri-Golf team and Tennis team.

Yr6 Netball Competition

Well done to the girls who participated in the North Somerset Netball competition.  They did really well and they just missed out on progressing to the semi-finals.  They drew in their group on total points and goal difference and the progression was decided by goals made.  There attitude was amazing and encouragement of their team mates fantastic - another great group of pupils who have made us proud!

Easter!

Well done to all the children who made Easter Bonnets for the Key Stage 1 parade and to all the parents who came and watched. The Key Stage 2 decorated eggs were also brilliant.  The effort in both was fantastic - well done to all children who entered and thank you to Friends of Castle Batch for organising it.

Yr5 & 6 Tag Rugby

Selected children from years 5 and 6 took part in a Tag Rugby Tournament at Hornets RFC. Our opening two matches were against tough opposition and we lost to Mendip Green and St Georges. We then won convincingly against Winscombe and won our last match. This was a friendly re-match with St Georges and we won 4-1. Congratulations to all the children as they were a credit to our school. They demonstrated excellent team work and supported each other. Thank you to the parents that came to watch.

Gymnastics Competition 2017

The Level 1 children (children who do not attend Gymnastics club) did amazingly well and were pipped to the bronze medal post by 2 points.

The Level 2 children (children who attend regular Gymnastics club) absolutely smashed it to become Gold medal winners.  Holly J showed an outstanding performance and became the individual Gold medallist for the Level 2 gymnasts.  All children showed determination, compassion and professionalism.  Their behaviour was exceptional at all times.  Well done Castle Batch Gymnasts!

Cross Country Event

Castle Batch took six teams to the recent Cross Country Event held at Hutton Moor. It was a challenging course and everyone did their best. Congratulations in particular to Finlay E in Year 4 who finished in the top ten in his race and to the Year 6 girls' team, who finished third in their team event. Thank you to all staff and parents who supported this event.
