Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium at Castle Batch Primary School Academy

The Pupil Premium is a Government initiative that targets extra money at pupils who are socially disadvantaged.  Research shows that many pupils from deprived backgrounds underachieve compared to their non-deprived peers. The pupil premium is provided to enable these pupils to be supported to reach their potential.

The Government has provided a fixed amount of money for schools per pupil based on the number of pupils registered for Free School Meals (FSM), who are looked after or adopted from care, or who are children of service personnel over a rolling six year period.  This fixed amount of money is expected to increase every year over the course of this current Parliament.  At Castle Batch we will  be using the indicator of those eligible for FSM as well as identified vulnerable groups as our target children to ‘close the gap’ regarding attainment and progress.

At Castle Batch Primary School Academy, we believe that it is our job to enable all of our pupils to achieve all that they are capable of, and never put a ceiling on their achievement. The Pupil Premium Funding helps us to do this.

Please have a look at our Pupil Premium Statement to see how we spent our funding last year, and see our strategy document to see how we will be spending our money this year. Our Pupil Premium Policy outlines our overall approach.

Please, as always, come an see us if you have any questions or queries, or you would like some help with applying for Free School Meals.
