Speech & Language Base

Welcome to the Speech & Language Base!

The Base consists of two classes, one in Key Stage 1 and one in Key Stage 2.  Mrs Hannah Tedder teaches in Key Stage 1 and Mrs Julie Bestwick will be the teacher for Key Stage 2.

Mrs Hannah Tedder - email address hannah.tedder@cbpsa.theplt.org.uk

Mrs Julie Bestwick - email address julie.bestwick@cbpsa.theplt.org.uk

Children who attend the base are recommended for placement by their Speech and Language therapist.  Children who have a diagnosis of a language disorder and who receive a place are academically within the average range.  Our aim is for these children to reach their language potential and return to their local mainstream school.

We will support your child to develop their communication (receptive and expressive), learning, social and emotional, physical and all the self-help skills they will need not just within a school day but also for their future.  We are there to encourage and empower them to do as much as they can for themselves and we value their efforts with lots of positive reinforcement and praise.

The Speech and Language Base is managed by Mrs Hannah Jones - our SENDCO.  Hannah Jones has been teaching for 23 years, starting her career in Somerset before moving to Castle Batch 21 years ago.  During this time Hannah Jones has taught all year groups both in Keystage 1 and 2.  Starting as SENDCO 5 years ago having completed the National Qualification at Cheltenham and Gloucester University.  "I am committed to supporting all of our children and families.  I want to support our children in being able to be the best they can be and enjoy being successful learners."

Parents can obtain further useful speech and language links by going to our Useful Links section under the News and Events tab on the website.
