Gymnastics Competition

Children in Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 have been told about an upcoming trial for a gymnastics competition.

There are two categories: Level 1 is for children who do not currently attend a gymnastics club outside of school and Level 2 is for children who do at least 1 hour of gymnastics training outside of school.

The trial is on Monday 7th January in the afternoon (the first day back after the Christmas break). Sharon from Splitz Gym Club will be helping run the trial. Year 3/4 trial will be between 1.15pm and 2.10pm and then the Year 5/6 trial will be between 2.15pm and 3.10pm. Children are not to worry if they do not have their PE kit on the day, as long as they are wearing appropriate clothes (e.g. trousers) then they can still take part. I can also lend out any shorts if necessary.

The routines are shown below.

There is the Year 3/4 Level 1 routine, the Year 3/4 Level 2 routine (which is also the same as the Year 5/6 Level 1 routine) and the Year 5/6 Level 2 routine.

There is also a link to the Baskervilles Gym website that has video clips of all routines.

Children need to feel confident that they can perform all elements of the floor routines and can perform them to a high standard. They do not need to have learnt the routines off by heart as we can prompt them. They will also need to do a vault and these are included on the routines sheets.
