We have done a fantastic job with the number of Eco Bricks we have created over the last couple of terms. In fact too many to quality check and deliver so we are now asking that everyone delivers them to the collection points direct.
Please visit Replenish Weston and Friends of Grove Park on Facebook for details of their collection points. The main things to remember are:
- No space. No air, no pockets - it’s a brick, not a pillow!
- If you can stand on it and it hardly moves, or doesn’t flex at all, that is a brick. If it does move then you need to add more plastic!
- If it crushes it is somewhere between not good enough and useless. All of this said, it’s a learning curve. So let’s learn to EcoBrik. Visit GoBrik and watch the 'How to' video.
Weston Hospice Care
In this academic year 2018-2019, our academy charity will be Weston Hospicecare. This is the nominated charity across the trust and we are looking forward to getting involved to help support this worthy cause. Please keep your eyes peeled for events over the year in support of Weston Hospicecare. If you want further information on what they do, then please click on the link below:
Weston Hospicecare Mendip Challenge
We are very proud that a number of staff from Castle Batch took part in the Mendip Challenge this year on the 2nd June. Over 100 Trust staff and children took part and raised a considerable amount of money for a worthy cause. Please see the highlight video below.
What have we got planned this year?
We will be supporting a number of charities this year along with our own charity, Friends of Castle Batch (FCB).
We will also be supporting Macmillan Coffee Morning on 28th September so if any keen bakers want to donate some lovely treats they will be very welcomed! Please come along and join us from drop off until 10.30am to raise money (and enjoy cake!) for a very worthy cause! Thank you to everyone who came along to our coffee morning - we raised an amazing £153!
Harvest Celebration. Can all children bring in one item from the list recently issued for Harvest to donate to the Weston Foodbank. The Foodbank will be collecting all donations at the end of the assembly. A huge well done to everyone who brought an item in for Harvest. We collected an incredible 326.60kg of food. This support is much appreciated and it will be put to good use to help those in need in our local area.
Children in Need is on 16th November 2018. It is casual wear for a £1 donation with the proceeds being split between Children in Need and Weston Hospicecare. We raised a great £388 on this day with both charities receiving £194 - thank you!
Christmas Jumper Day for Save the Children is on 14th December 2018 - please join us in a jumper or Christmas coloured items of clothing for a £1 donation for Save the Children.
Red Nose Day is on 15th March 2019 - watch this space for our ideas for Red Nose Day!
